Oh well, found it while googling cat playing guitar, trying to find a better picture for Gotti than the cat with a scratching post. Rolling Eyes

The real worry is that I spent too much time here yesterday, and got nothing done, well that's not entirely true......... I did make a trip out to the Post Office in the mad Christmas rush, sending Harry 2 wrapped-up screws for his guitar tuners, a Christmas Card that I found that actually said "Peace ON Earth" just like we were talking about, and a new set of Acoustic Strings.

My hopes of finding an artist/cartoonist to copy my daughter and her blue Tele, or to make her T-shirts & give her some entertainment & encouragement with Music didn't work out...... but no worries. Dang, she's finding too much pressure & work and I was sad to hear yesterday, that she dropped out of the Symphony's planned Seasonal violin/strings recital. I'll be bummed and pondering that one for awhile, and not because Music lessons are $19 - $20 for 30 minutes. Thank you for your concern. Confused

So there will always be more recitals.

I have a great daughter, age 9, who is very athletic and coordinated, and a perfect little lady. Of course I'm being totally objective here: she's the best in her karate class and dance class, and pretty good at swimming the backstroke. But she doesn't really have a drive of her own to keep with it.

I've had to be that motivation for her and insist that she participate in things. I hate doing that, but I've seen it work in bringing her through the phases where she just doesn't want to continue or she feels that she's no good. I'm hoping that when she's old enough, her own motivation will kick in.

She has a great ear for music and can sing very well, but only when she thinks nobody can hear her. I've tried to get her into music by buying her an electric piano and leaving guitars all over the house, but no bites yet.

I also have a son, who is a great guy, age 17. He resisted a lot of what I've tried to pass on to him as well. But I've made it clear to my children that the best I can do is teach them the stuff I know, and then when they're old enough, they can go a different way if they want. He isn't interested in guitar either, though I gave him my SG a few years ago when he tried to learn some intro riffs.

Both my kids have a love for road cycling, which they got from me. That's one thing I can always get them to do. Maybe not as far as I would like sometimes, but they're always game for a ride.

I've always admired women with a strong work ethic, and I think it's important to keep making my daughter do things so she can develop that in herself and get used to the idea that there are just things in life you have to do and that while doing them she can find something fun about it.

Those are great values you are building into your kids, Rig! All you can do is show them the path, and live what your teaching them. What they decide to do with that is up to them, even when it hurts when they make bad choices. But it sure feels good when they make good choices!

Great words Stan, and I never knew that me & Rigormortis had so much in common, besides the way I feel right now. Shocked

Anyhow, I was just trying to post a near similar pic, and in the same colors as my my own Honey Bunch, whom I live for.

BTW, Keb, we still give violin lessons for $20/hr. For Board Members..... anywhere from $15 - $17.50. For anyone from New Zealand, well of course it would have to be in YOUR currency; uhhhh $50/hr! Laughing

Yeah, so I was just dropping by to clear my name, and say "Forget about this bickering and stuff" or just plain negativity? I'd only say something or post something that was positive or of assistance to the forum and other members. And I haven't been too happy lately.

See any similarities? She's my inspiration, my reason to live. The reincarnation of, or the REAL Billie the Kid? And I'm just a blessed and proud papa. Wink

P.S. She'll also fix all of your guitars in less than 30 minutes, and get the intonation spot on. She has no questions, she answers them. Shocked Will work for Fender gift certificates or chocolate Santas. Rolling Eyes

Yep. I know what you mean about her being your inspiration. My daughter is mine as well in many ways. We have an understanding and a connection that is rare.

I hope I can make good use this time when she is willing to listen to me and be guided by me. And I also hope that I don't put too much pressure on her. It's easy to pass on these expectations that maybe are just mine and not hers as well. I keep looking for signs of what she really is interested in, what is coming from who she is and not just what I want her to be.
