| well i was doing an acoustic set with a friend of mine and we were in high school. we decided to do three songs of our own. i opened up with the first one and he did the last two and i played leads on the two while he played harmonica on the other. but when we got on stage i was so nervous and so was he that we didnt even check our amps to see who was louder or if the distortion was on. i was using a friends classic peavey 30 watt tube amp and it still had a little distortion on from the previous person that used it earlier in the show. also it was rediculously turned up and it was miked and i still hadnt really realized it. my friends amp was also turned up way too loud. he actually had been using a transistor 30 watt at the time too. funny how that happened, he borrowed his too. well mine being a tube was way louder than his and his was turned up so loud too that when we played they heard us. and really heard us. but didnt hear the vocals. and when i played the leads on his songs you could only hear my guitar not his, so everything basically sounded like good *An Oblique Spheroid of Processed Food Matter That Attracts Flies*. b/c the music was good but it was so loud you couldnt really hear lyrics or the drums. fun times and i now know never to use a mike on a tube amp with an acoustic guitar. |

Man, thats too funny!
But let me tell you, if thats the worst thing thing ever happens in your musical journey, consider yourself lucky.
It can get MUCH worse! _________________

If that is the worst that happened on your first show, I’d say it was a success! SA is right on. The fact that if you learned something will help you a great deal in future shows.
Sound management is really a fine art that not many can grasp. Heck, I’m still learning, and I’ve been playing in and out of bands for 10 years! _________________ Always remember you are unique, just like everyone else...
