I am pretty happy. It has great balance and blend I didnt expect. It produces a full mellow sound yet still has the bright in it. Unique.
Thanks for the comment. No one seems to have any opinion on these. _________________ http://www.soundclick.com/MartyMcKimmey |

Seagulls and the other Godin acoustics (Norman, Simon & Patrick, La Patrie and Art & Lutherie) are great values. Excellent tone for the money. I once compared a $250 Norman to a bunch of other makes priced up to $1000 in Manny's in NYC and the Norman was the winner. _________________ "But I don't want to go among mad people" Alice remarked.

I went in to get some monitors and saw it hanging there out of place with all the Alvarez's around it. Made them look...uh...not desirable. He has had a $2,000 Yari there for a while (cant unload it) I was eyeing it. It was better than the other Alvarez but the blend was just not there compared to the Seagull. That really supprised me given the maple back and sides and the unrounded braces under the top.
Anyway glad i bought it. Still lacking the tele. _________________ http://www.soundclick.com/MartyMcKimmey |

Dude, I love Seagulls! I used to have an S6 CW with lr baggs electronics(I had the fanciest pickup system, forgot which model) and I loved the thing to pieces. I don't know why I sold it, it was stupid of me. I think I had bad GAS at the time. _________________

I stopped by that Music Zoo store near me that has the great photos last week. The place is a pretty small hole in the wall type place, with the electrics hung high and crammed so close you could hardly tell one model from the next. They did have a very few acoustics in the front of the store. I grabbed a Seagull Coastline with a spruce top and played it for a few minutes. Sounded very fine and the neck played real nice. Also had built in electronics. I asked one of the guys the price and he told me $400. Couldn't believe it. I may have to get one. _________________ "But I don't want to go among mad people" Alice remarked.

I had a Sea Gull crap on me before, when I was out for track in high school. They told me it was good luck, so I never washed it off. Then one day I could not stand it, so now I have nothing but bad luck.
Just kidding.
I heard they were really good Guitars.
I am looking at acoustic guitars now. I think I have narrowed it down to Takamene or Taylor. I like a deep tone. _________________ Gotta have a sense of humor and if you don't then too bad. The best jokes are the ones where we laugh at ourselves, because that is when we really start growing up.

Seagulls have a great rep, especially with the matte finish, which is less attractive. I personally found Taylors in the stores to be overly bright, but that is an opinion. They certainly do project like no other, but not what I personally want to hear. Takamines can be all over the map, and that's just a geographical fact. I like my Garrison, just because it's what I like, very deep yet balanced. Gosh, there's got to be so many opinions, just get what you like, but Seagulls will fly with anything and get the job done swimmingly. _________________ Girls Rock!

Well I like my Simon and Patrick 12 string that I picked up for $50 dollars becauce it had a cracked head stock I fixed it. And I put an 1950's vintage Kent archtop pickup that I have in the sound hole. I use it as a 12 string. I didn't put pegs in the headstock. I used Weldwood waterproof resin. All I had to do was to take the tuners off. The plastic coverin was intack so I mixed the filler and the hardener and clamped that baby down with wood on both sides protecting the guitar. It plays well and is well made.. Those luthiers from Canada are craftsmen. Plus they make a guitar that sounds incrediably well for the price.
Now this just goes to show you that when you go looking for a guitar don't think that you have to sell a kidney to get a good one. Thats the challenge how can I make this guitar sound good? Now my only complaint is that the 12 string top is a bit stiff; but the wide mahogany neck gieves it a very resonant sound. Sort of like Muddy's Tele with the wide neck that he loved. Muddy's music is powerful and it takes you places. I need to rest. _________________ A GUITAR AIN'T A BLUES GUITAR TIL ITS BEEN IN A PAWN SHOP

| I agree with the general concensus that Seagulls are an excellant value. Tough to find a better significantly better sounding guitar until you get to the $800-1,000 range IMO. You got a nice deal there, good luck! |
