I played thru 72 Coupe the other day and was impressed! All tube, 72 watts, Tone control on the reverb and an adjustable boost.
Has anyone tried one? Discuss......................
And they look kinda cool too.

T77 - although they are out of my price range, I did look at them. I particularly
like the blue trim one - Lots'o style. But for a grand.... ah, once you get in that
price range there are so many options - wonder if Kustom can seperate them-
selves (enough) from the rest of the pack with that line. Very good find though. _________________ I provide 3 different kinds of service. Good, fast and cheep. You can only pick 2.

To my ears, it's worth the price of admission.
Also, I found one at my local GC for.........$499.99
Special order that backed out.....................We'll see. _________________

Stan, thats kinda what I was thinking. It's been getting some killer review on the net. I put it side by side with a Fender Supersonic and it held it's own pretty good. With the Fender being a 10 (naturally) the Kustom IMHO got a 9. Not bad for a solid tube rig. _________________

Wow. 9 out of 10 next to a Supersonic. That's a pretty dang good score! _________________ ...all the gray areas are becoming black holes... |

Ah, you found this old thread, eh?
I ended up buying the Supersonic, it just had too much cool vibe and tone.
I should have bought the Kustom too, for the money, it would have made a great back-up rig.
I paid a lot more than $499................actually I paid $1000 for the Fender, but I feel it was worth it for the tone. To me, it's like a smaller version of the Vibro King with a 2nd channel.
Post back after you try out the Kustom. _________________

I tried it out today. It was at a small music shop not far from me. The guy there was really on me like white on rice and it sort of made it difficult to relax and judge. I'm sure the guy is desperate for sales being such a small music shop in an area where there are some bigger ones.
I should have brought my strat because he didn't have any decent single coil axes. I ended up using a Michael Kelley guitar and splitting the buckers. It wasn't bad but I have a feeling my guitars would have sounded better.
The amp makes really nice distortion. The clean channel was nice though I thought it sounded a bit soft at lower volumes but not bad. Similar to my Nomad. I didn't really get the chance to turn it up though. I also tried the 36watt 2x10 and that sounded a little more punchy but that could be because of the lower power.
The 72watter seemed small for it's size and I could see it being luggable compared with the Egnater. I LOVED the tremolo and vibrato and reverb on this thing. They sounded as good to me as any Fender I've tried. Also looks to be really well made.
I can get one of these online for about $800. I'd like to bring my strat back and try it again but it's not the kind of music shop where you can do that without getting pressured from the shop owner. I don't know. It didn't quite sound as nice clean as the Egantor but the distortion was really nice and the clean was quite good. I think it would have been better if I could have cranked it a little more. |

For $800, I'd pass.
I was only considering the one I found because it was $500, and that's some cheap tube power. For close to a grand, your options open WAY up. _________________
