Some years ago I used to play in a Rockabilly band. We were pretty much regulars at this one hotel tavern, and we usually played quite well, except one night things didn't go so well. First, we went to the cafe across the street and ate a heavy meal, then we spent a lot of energy cheering and cutting up for the opening band. After they were done, we brought in our equipment, and as I was carrying my amp through the back entrance, the door(which was quite heavy) closed on my hand. To make matters worse, my Tele had worn frets, making it harder to play, and believe me, you can't make too many mistakes on a Tele or you will sound pretty bad. The other guys didn't have it so good either. We still got some compliments, and the next time we played there we played a lot better, and with a vengeance! Most bands will have an "off" night. It happens.
