Has anyone played an Epiphone John Lennon acoustic? It's a pretty cool guitar. It has a single coil pick-up at the neck. When I saw that Beatles tribute band, "John" used it, (well the Gibson version) on a lot of songs. It really had a bite to the tone. You could really tell it was a single coil and not a typical acoustic p/u.

I've played about 5 of them and they were very nice.

Go to the Epi web site and search the word Quigdao. You'll find a great photo tour of the Quigdao factory. Only Epi guitars and made in the Epi factory (owned by Gibson) and the QC is very good.

I've had two older Epi Jazz Boxes and the Lennon was as nice as my old jazz guitars.

The tops and back, fit and finish were beautiful on the ones that I played.

John are we walking about the same guitar? there is an epi jazzbox "casino" & there is an epi John Lennon flat top that looks a lot like a J-45.

The acoustic guitar is a knock-off of a J-160. If you've got any sort of ear for tone, pass on the Epi model unless you want it because it's got the John lennon signature on it and you plan on hanging it on the wall. It's all laminated wood, and typical cheapy asian electronics and cheesy inlay material and binding. Lennon played the Gibson version of the guitar, not the Epiphone (that was McCartney and it was a Texan model).

The limited edition John Lennon Casinos are a whole different kettle'o fish. Those are keepers.

BTW, I'm not an Epi hater. I've got three in the stable.

I was talking about the J-160 with the pickup pole pieces between the soundhole and the neck. I've played several of them and I thought they were very nice.

I have owned an older Epi Riviera jazz guitar and I had a Sheraton about 8 years ago. The Lennon that I played had fit and finish to match the jazz boxes.

I have an Epi Bisquit Resonator and I had an Epi 12 string before I bought my Martin 12 string. I wouldn't put the Reso or the 12 string in the same quality group as the Lennon or the two Jazz guitars.

The Lennon models really surprised me. The Lennon has a solid top.
