So I'm down to one acoustic, my old '58 Grestch archtop, and I want to keep it from wearing out too much so I've been checking out some reasonably priced Dreads. I had a Guild dread for a while but traded it up for a '57AVRI Strat in March.

I've been looking at Taylors, Epiphone Masterbuilts, Guild GAD's, Martins, Larrivees, Seagulls, Ibanez, Yamaha and Breedlove Atlas models.
Finally settled on a Guild GAD-50 (natural spruce/rosewood). Ordered it today. Cool

Agreed. I have never heard any acoustic flattop sound as good as a good Guild. Cool Cool

That's beautiful! Great rosewood it looks fantastic. I love it, you are so lucky or smart and you probably want to hear the first 3 strings in front of the bass. I thought this was an electric forum, I didn't see any fiddles or acoustics. Embarassed I love your choice. I have an acoustic too, it is mahogany for brightness cos I wanted to hear the first 3 strings and it is a big boomer too, a Garrison with patended plastic top bracing. No sound post like a violin. Sad Body construction and soundboard is everything I guess when you're not plugged in! Laughing

Well, it is good to age that wood just a little more... it will sound just that much better when you open here up, and let her sing! I can already hear those CSN&Y songs now!

I love it!
I have a Guild D25 (back when the D25 was made in the US) that I bought about 10 years ago. It is ageing very nicely. The top is turning dark gold. No cracks or anything.
I worried about how it would age because it has an arched back and no internal bracing or anything, but it is just as solid as the day I bought it, but it sounds even sweeter. If I live to be 100 years old, I will never part with my Guild.
