A Garrison Acoustic Electric dreadnought with cutaway, and a Behringer Ultracoustic 45W amp with effects and a microphone channel, that can be used with a 1/4" jack and another guitar, violin, mandolin, etc.
I don't know the Garrison's model number, and don't think it matters. It's out of production I think. I'm sure the new ones are good, and I was told that they are. I'll put the pictures on my pix thread, just because I have a pix thread, and that's what it's for?
Details are here however & on topic. Mahogany back & sides like a D-18, solid I guess, for clarity and some punch. Solid spruce top, which takes fussy humidification, but vibrates like a speaker, unplugged. Foot in my mouth: how does a speaker vibrate unplugged? The top just vibrates like a soundboard, which is what it is. The sound comes from the wood, and the not the hole, correct? The hole allows the air to get in and move the wood I presume. Garrison has a patented plastic top sound bracing or structural bracing system which I find fascinating, even though plastic has no business being inside a piece of wood. It's a pleasant contradiction here however. On the day I bought it, or "got" it, since it didn't cost and was another gift , I tried Aria, Art & Lutherie, Cort, Gibson, Ibanez, Seagull, Simon & Patrick, Taylor, Walden, Washburn & Yamaha. I've spent a long time in an acoustic room before with Taylor, and Martin; also it's not too hard to get one's hands on a Martin just about anywhere, in a cafe, whatever. I like Taylor's brightness, and Martin's big boom and tummy tickle. My Garrison has both or all 3!!! I tried Fenders before, and Guilds. I like the Guilds, but didn't see much in Acoustic Electric. Anyhow, I wasn't going to get any Gibson, Martin or Guild for a gift. Maybe later, but doubtful, I don't feel any GAS pains as you say.
And on the great day that I got my just right guitar, the salesmen really tried hard to place me with the really pretty Aria's at one store, and the so-pretty, or pimped-out Corts at another. I liked both of their looks & sounds, like Taylor's in my opinion and the price was actually quite a bit less than this "used" plain ol' Garrison, which struck a chord with me, or I believe was waiting there for me.
Ha ha, sneak pic:

Fiddlestick, Thats a really nice looking guitar. I have heard a few at a shop around here. Yes indeed they are loud and have a lot of punch. What kind of music you like to play. Nice guitar. _________________ A GUITAR AIN'T A BLUES GUITAR TIL ITS BEEN IN A PAWN SHOP

AC,
That one in the black might be beefy but the others look slim. Of course as I grow older and my eyes are dimmer in my mind everything looks better. I think Fiddlesticks is about 12 oir 13, something around that age with an older brother that must be a guitar tech or something.
And she has good tastes in guitars. _________________ A GUITAR AIN'T A BLUES GUITAR TIL ITS BEEN IN A PAWN SHOP

Where's the beef? In Argentina where the rain forests used to be, or at McDonald's? Same beef.
Bluespicker, I play all kinds of music, classical first, all historical composers, then punk!!!. Classic girl stuff, not pop, never bubble gum, and some jazz plus modern guys who don't seem old to me? Hendrix and Clapton but I'm not a Strat girl. With the acoustic, I'm doing Cat Stevens, Jim Croce, Neil Young, The Eagles when hell freezes over, Beatles and Keith Richards - Stones. They're way younger than Mozart and Beethoven. . I like Alison Krause big time, go girl!!!, Beverley Mahood, Martina McBride, Trick Pony, Leann Rimes and the Wilkinsons' Amanda. Diana Krall too, but she's just a crooner.
Sorry, I don't got me the Blues, 'cept for a little Muddy Waters, and Albert King. Who's got time for the blues, unless it's in jeans? Have fun, laugh a little, here ya go: http://www.trickpony.com/home/index.html

I've heard a lot of good things about Garrison's but have never seen one or played one. They seem to be pretty rare.
I was reading on another acoustic guitar board that Gibson recently bought Garrison, but will not honor any of the existing warranties for product sold before the takeover. _________________ "But I don't want to go among mad people" Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat, "We're all mad here 'n stuff."

You are very patient sir. Here's a tease to keep you laughing while you wait, or with respect to keep you and your Mustang company.
