Thanks for that reference. I signed up and read some great posts that made me feel better about my purchase. |

My Carvin Nomad just came in yesterday. I unpacked it and it's a beautiful looking amp. Also seems to be well made. I plugged it in and tried it out a little and so far I'm pretty happy with both the clean and distortion channels. It does really expose the buzz in my G&L(ground problem in the G&L probably).
But I haven't really put it though the paces yet. It is really loud for a small amp. I mean you can really crank it up much more than you need to for home use. When I have played around with it more I'll post some comments. So far though it seems to be a great amp for the price.
Thanks to SAguitar for turning me on to this amp. |

You're most welcome, my friend! They do have a lot of headroom, and a great tone for the money!
If you can't get it to saturate at levels you can deal with, and that might likely happen, here is a site where the guy sells some very nice attenuators for very reasonable prices. Check 'em out!

Hey Mark, do you still have the Carvin? How's it working out? I've found one locally with an external cab and footswitch for a really nice price. I would be interested in your input! Thanks.

One of which I'm lucky enough to have been to in my travels, but I've never played the Nomad...
Therefore, I can't comment on it. Like all things Carvin, you can't try them out (unless you happen to find one secondhand or live close to said stores) but thier reputation speaks loud and clear for them. My main amp is currently a Carvin, and I believe that it's hard to go wrong with one. If not, I do believe they have a satisfaction guarantee. _________________ RENT THIS SPACE |

I still have it. I recently got a Kustom '72 Coupe and I'm really liking that amp. But the Carvin still is really nice. It's size is a lot easier to haul around etc.. I just got the mod kit for the soak channel so when I get a chance I'm going to try it out and see. If things work out I'll probably keep it.
I think if you can get it at a good price they're worth it. Really solidly built and the clean channel is really nice. The soak channel isn't bad but it's just not my cup of tea as is. Nice thing about them though is that there are a lot of mods out there to suite your tastes so if you get it you can tweek it until you get what you want(at least that what I'm hoping). |
