Well, FWIW my intial impression is that while it is a very nice guitar, (and this is their top of the line model, cost me >$2k) it isn't quite as "flash" as a USA Fender Deluxe Tele. The differences are very minimal though, so don't get the impression that the Fender is light years better. Wink

Its just little things aren't as nicely made, like the binding on the Fender and the surface finish on the neck. The G&L has a fairly plain satin finish on the whole neck, which is great for playing but a bit plain on the front. Fender get around this now by having a satin back of teh neck and a gloss front, for example.

This is one of the very few guitars that I have actually played in a shop before I have bought it. I certainly would not have bought it if it played or sounded crap though - in fact it plays very nicely, intonation was perfect and the pickups have a nice bite to them, as a twangy Tele should. That is certainly why I bought it.

It was an interesting day actually, as I also took some more photos of my new Fender American Standard Tele (and then put it on the wall unplayed as I had originally intended to do) and I have to say that at 75% of the price of the G&L, it's quality was virtually the same as the G&L, with there being more things like accessories in the hard case. The one thing that teh G&L came with which is pretty cool, is a hand signed COA from Mrs Fender! (Leo's Wife) Cool

I also unpacked a 1995 MIJ Fender Foto Flame Tele that I had bought recently on eBay (for much less money) and I thought that it was a cracker of a guitar too. Very Happy

Anyway, I intend to take the G&L to my local Jam tonight and give here a baptism of fire and see how she rates with my peers. Wink

OK music lovers. Here's something a bit unusual that entered the Ajay fortress a few days ago.

Fender 1953 Champion Lap Steel

Neat huh? And yes, it has an original 1953 Tele pickup in it, which is probably worth more than what I paid for the whole thing!

And the other good thing is that it's a killer playing guitar.

Took me quite a while to manage to put it down when I "test played" it... Rolling Eyes

I actually bought this one pretty cheaply, with a view to re-selling it. Now I'm thinking about keeping it - don'cha hate that? Wink

Tele arrival warning...

Fender Custom Shop HH Set Neck Tele

In spite of the fact that it has a N9 Serial number, I understand that it's a 1991 Guitar (some 1991 guitars had N9 serial numbers by mistake).

It's been played quite a bit and has battle scars, belt rash etc... but I know why it's been played so much - it's a great playing guitar.

But it is a very nice Geetar nevertheless... Cool

Yes indeed, I thought of you immediately when I first laid eyes on the guitar... Rolling Eyes

I nearly posted the photos in your blog to suggest it as your next project... a HH Tele. Twisted Evil
