I'm wanting to change bridge pins in my acoustic. Because I have to, or
that its a good idea, not just to get fancy.
The problem is the heads of the pins go 1/2 way down the hole and they
are a 'B' to get out. So I take my measur'in stick (ok, its a little more
precise then a stick) - the heads of my pins are about 7.5 or 8mm wide.
I found some pins that I can order from china with 9.5mm heads, and some
over sized pins from allparts - but there is no picture, or maybe the shaft of
it is longer or ???
So before I order the wrong part... any advice or direction? _________________ I provide 3 different kinds of service. Good, fast and cheep. You can only pick 2.

The heads shouldn't go into the hole. Did your measurin' stick get the width of the hole? it should be less than 9.5 mm from the description. At least they should be bigger than the slot, and hold the string firm. Its normal to have to tune her up a couple times before it seats. _________________ Welcome to the land of Dementia! |

McGillman - I haven't measured the holes yet. Since you bring that up, thats
a god idea. Once I pull them out though, I'm gonna leave it unstrung
until I get new pins... taken them out is potentially hazardous for the
well being of my guitar.
Heres my dilemma
My 7.5 or 8mm measurement was the low E's pin head at the widest
point. What ever you do, don't tell me I'm gonna need the whole
bridge replaced. So.. any good places for normal sized pins
with ridiculously large heads? Or do you think I'm going about this the
wrong way? _________________ I provide 3 different kinds of service. Good, fast and cheep. You can only pick 2.

yeah, I know (sholders dropping)
And I bought it that way.. not knowing the ins and outs of acoustics,
it didn't even hit me until I tried to change strings... the second time. _________________ I provide 3 different kinds of service. Good, fast and cheep. You can only pick 2.

It would probably be simpler to loosen the strings and pop those things out from the inside! If it's gonna be awhile until you get the replacements, I'd leave the neck under tension. They like that. _________________ ...all the gray areas are becoming black holes... |
