Today was my first day off so I took a trip up to Albany to the guitar center there and tried out a whole bunch of amps.

the one that really-really impressed me was the Egnator tourmaster combo. The clean on this thing was fantastic and it could do anything from blues/classic crunch to full out metal. Not that I would really be able to tell you how good a metal sound is.

2x12 celestions, 6l6's and various power options. Only downside is it's heavy as hell at 100lbs. But if you get a chance to try one out it's worth the experience. The price was $1599 which isn't bad when you compare it to a Mesa. This thing's really got me thinking. It's just sooo darn heavy.

I have heard some clips of Egnator amps and they sound fantastic. I have not been able to find one around here to try though. Confused

Nope not yet. I loved the combo but it's so heavey I might be better off getting the head and using my 4x12. But that sort of flys in the face of downsizing my rig. The combo just sounded soooo nice though. I don't know. I could easily see that may happen. I need to try a lonestar and see what that's like. The 2x12 is probably just as heavey as the Egnater but the 1x12 would probably be what I'm looking for sizewise.
