Literally. I had a band-aid on my thumb a few days ago. After I took it off, I picked up my black Tele and played for a while. Well, hello, Mr brain surgeon. I still had some of that sticky band-aid stuff on my thumb. Now it's all over my guitar. I guess it's kinda like when you take a sticker off. What should I use to get it off???

Goo Gone works great on almost any surface. But, any oil based product should remove the gum without hurting the finish.

Here's one I've read about but never used myself: Peanut Butter (makes sense because it's oil based).

Oh!......avoid the crunchy kind. It does have an adverse affect on finishes.

I haven't seen or heard of that stuff before firedude. But, xylene is a derivative of benzene. I don't know I'd want to try that on a guitar finish. Might leave a cloudy spot. Does it say anything about being used on painted finishes.

I tried the peanut butter thing. It worked. I had adhesive from a sticker on a guitar neck and it worked like a charm. Just add crackers. Very Happy
