Literally. I had a band-aid on my thumb a few days ago. After I took it off, I picked up my black Tele and played for a while. Well, hello, Mr brain surgeon. I still had some of that sticky band-aid stuff on my thumb. Now it's all over my guitar. I guess it's kinda like when you take a sticker off. What should I use to get it off??? _________________

Goo Gone works great on almost any surface. But, any oil based product should remove the gum without hurting the finish. _________________ Whether you think you can...or you can't...you're right!

Here's one I've read about but never used myself: Peanut Butter (makes sense because it's oil based).
Oh!......avoid the crunchy kind. It does have an adverse affect on finishes. _________________ Whether you think you can...or you can't...you're right!

I haven't seen or heard of that stuff before firedude. But, xylene is a derivative of benzene. I don't know I'd want to try that on a guitar finish. Might leave a cloudy spot. Does it say anything about being used on painted finishes. _________________ Whether you think you can...or you can't...you're right!

I tried the peanut butter thing. It worked. I had adhesive from a sticker on a guitar neck and it worked like a charm. Just add crackers. |
